Where to Buy the Most Affordable Property
If you’re looking for a buy-to-let bargain, then you may need to head to the north west or north east of England, according to recent figures which revealed the most affordable streets to buy property in England and Wales.
The Most Affordable Street Rankings 2010 were released by Mouseprice, which carries out annual surveys of house prices. For the second year in a row, Fernhill, CF45, in Cardiff, held the top spot for the cheapest street, with an average property value of £28,600. Even though the average is low, the property values in the road have increased from 2009, when the average property figure was £24,640.
Ranking at second cheapest is Oxford Street, in Brierfield, which has an average priced of £32,800. It’s located close to the M65 and was previously ranked at number six last year; the average price in 2009 stood at £30,600.
Ann Street in the TS6 area of east Middlesborough was revealed to be the third cheapest place to invest in property. Last year, the average property price stood at £26,910, but this year its risen to an average of £32,900.
It’s interesting to note that many of the streets making up the remainder of the top 10 are located in the north east and north west of England. It’s also encouraging to see that house prices in many of the areas have risen slightly, despite the difficulties the property world has faced over the last year.
