Diary of a UK Property Investor – www.hbfinvestments.co.uk
I had a great meeting with Chek Whyte and Raj Shastri recently regarding a project to supply investment properties as homes for key workers. This would run alongside supplying investment properties to our property investors as we do currently through HBF Investments.
The demand for housing remains very strong in the UK but the continued lack of mortgage funding as well as affordable housing is making it almost impossible for key workers to get on the housing ladder.
Chek Whyte, who appeared on CH4’s ‘Secret Millionaire’, owns Chek Whyte Industries, a very successful property company. Chek also has a track record for running successful community schemes and this makes him and his company ideally positioned to run such a vital and ambitious key worker project.
Chek has held a number of meetings with mortgage financiers and the government (via the Salford MP Hazel Blears) to discuss his proposals. Key to success to this scheme is by having both a large supply of quality properties at discounted prices to provide enough affordable choice for key workers, and obtaining mortgage finance from the UK’s mortgage lenders. These are both significant hurdles which must be overcome but the initial discussions have been fruitful and the government is very supportive.
HBFinvestments fully supports this scheme and is committed to providing quality housing stock at affordable prices to the scheme as soon as the scheme gets under way.
